John Gibson, Ph.D.

Dr. John W. Gibson is founder and president of the Institute for Successful Aging, and has over 25 years of speaking, coaching, training, consulting and advising experience on aging issues. A recognized author, scholar and speaker, John is also a gerontologist who assists businesses in successfully responding to changes and opportunities created by our rapidly growing 50+ population.

Whether in an intimate seminar or a large keynote presentation, John is a gifted speaker who educates, inspires and entertains. He has been described as having the power to open and expand minds and hearts while helping individuals and businesses grow and prosper.

He draws upon both cutting-edge gerontology research and insights gained from his extensive experience in coaching and speaking to audiences on second-half-of-life issues.

John received a Doctorate and a Masters degree from Columbia University as well as a Masters from the University of Michigan with a Specialist in Aging from their Institute in Gerontology. He holds degrees in psychology, social work and applied statistics.

John's broad, in-depth education has prepared him for the complex challenges of applied work with businesses, individuals, families and couples challenged by aging issues. His background includes training and experience in personal and corporate coaching, mediation, conflict resolution and group facilitation. John is a skillful facilitator, particularly in situations involving strong emotions, conflict and pressure.

John has been on the faculties of both Columbia University and the University of Washington where he chaired the Specialization on Aging within the School of Social Work and taught adult development and aging courses. He is currently an affiliate faculty member of the University of Washington.
